Oekraïense uitgever Lilia Omelianenko zet werk in ballingschap voort
De Oekraïense uitgever Lilia Omelianenko ontvluchtte het land op 4 maart 2022, twee weken nadat de Russische invasie van Oekraïne plaatsvond. Sindsdien werkt zij met haar team door heel Europa van waaruit ze de uitgeefactiviteiten kunnen voortzetten. ‘Elke Oekraïner is erg kwetsbaar, niemand is zeker over de toekomst.’
Als ik Lilia bel via Messenger, is ze net terug uit Frankrijk waar ze het grote stripfestival International de la Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême bijwoonde. ‘We hebben heel leuke luchtige kinderstrips gevonden die we misschien gaan uitgeven.’ Het laat zien dat ze doorwerkt, ondanks de oorlog.
